Summer schedule: 1x per month
There is an art to convincing yourself you want to do something. For the past YEARS I have been telling myself that I wanted to get back into doing more artwork. Weeks, months and years would go by and I would only produce one piece, reluctantly.
In 2021, I set a goal and was not going to deny myself the joy of being creative. Yet weeks went by with nothing happening. I asked myself what the situation was when I feel creative. I realized the differentiating factor was, I always produce more when I am in community. There have been times that I would attend a wine and paint event and just create my own things. I used to think it was because I like that they cleaned up my mess, but now I recognize that it was because creativity flows out of me when I am with others.
So… I did a very “type A” thing and created an online, free, accountability art club. I figured if I host an art club, I create the community and I am “forced” to attend because I am hosting.
I did not expect it to be so rewarding! Every week new faces, ages and projects show up. Families, retirees, young, old, friends, new faces it is amazing to see!
This is not an instructional group, this is a group of people that have projects at home that they want to work on. If you have a house project, a craft, a photo project that is just sitting around waiting for some love, this group is the perfect opportunity to allow it to take shape week after week.
